Last Night’s Parties: Dossier Closes Their Fashion Week Pop-Up with Final ‘Homecoming’

Even though it might sound like a high school dance soiree, don’t be fooled. Dossier’s “Homecoming” was nothing like a traditional spirit week.

Everyone in the biz has been so consumed with New York Fashion Week over the last 8 days that we all nearly forgot it doesn’t last forever. Enter Dossier. The magazine’s ‘Homecoming’ event serieswas a five-day long celebration aimed at bringing the downtown scene back together to celebrate music, literature, film, and, of course, fashion too. The intimate series of live concerts, discussions, readings, film screenings, and general “happenings” kicked off last Saturday when Dossier celebrated the launch of their 6th issue featuring the very downtown-cool Freja Beha on the cover (The issue also features a piece on it-girl in the making Elle Fanning) and was rounded off last night with one final hoorah.

To close out the tab at their pop-up space on Elizabeth Street, the magazine held a special screening of the film Roger’s Pass, followed by a visit from Elle’s Kate Lanphear who hosted a cocktail hour leading into an all-night dance party led by DJ Maar and Mayu Kondo. For hungry guests, there was even an indoor taco truck serving up food.

The event was lighthearted, relatively small, wholly fun, and overall a well-executed reminder of the magazine’s core point–that the downtown scene is alive and well and not even the hustle and bustle of fashion week can break up their tight-knit community.
