Josie Maran Creates GOGO Charity Mascara

Get One Give One (GOGO) mascara from Josie Maran Cosmetics will generate more than $25,000 for City of Hope's Women's Cancers Program.

If there’s one beauty application we never leave the house without, it’s mascara. Some women swear by lipstick, but we’re lash lovers all the way. So we were delighted to join former supermodel and now cosmetics exec Josie Maran, 32, for a special day at the City of Hope, a comprehensive cancer treatment center in Duarte, CA, where she announced that her newly created GOGO (Get One Give One) mascara will generate at least $25,000 for the City of Hope’s Women’s Cancers Program.

City of Hope sees about 26,500 cancer patients a year, with 3,750 being treated in its Women’s Cancers Program. The vast majority (80 percent) of those are there for breast cancer care, while the rest have gynecological cancers.

For the first 5,000 purchases of GOGO Natural Volume Argan Mascara, Josie Maran Cosmetics will donate one tube of mascara to a woman in cancer treatment; after that, $1 from each sale of the $22 product will go to the women’s program. The effort continues through August 2012.

“As I did my research, I was shocked at the amount of cancer that was related to cosmetics,” Maran recalls of the early days of her company, which she founded in 2005. She searched for alternative suppliers and formulations that eschewed harmful chemicals and processes, which is why so many items in her line are made with organic argan oil from Morocco. The argan oil in GOGO mascara conditions lashes, and the natural carbon black colorant makes them super-black and boosts volume.

The former Maybelline model’s “cosmetics with a conscience” are available through Sephora, QVC and Maran’s own website, which also hosts her blog and other tidbits. Maran’s popular Bear Naked makeup wipes ($12) also have a charity beneficiary: the Natural Resources Defense Council’s polar bear campaign.

Do you feel strongly about “shopping with a conscience” or are you more focused on getting the best deal?

BoF Daily Digest | Japanese web bargains, Lagerfeld goes masstige, Richemont sales jump, PVH raises outlook, Wintour’s web

Louis Vuitton Omotosando | Source: Highsnobiety

Web-Bargain Luxury Comes to Japan (WSJ)

“For decades, the model for selling luxury imported goods in Japan has been simple: plush surroundings, attentive service—and the ‘Japan premium’… But the cozy system may be cracking, [thanks in part to] third-party websites to jump in with deep discounts.”

Karl Lagerfeld cancels Paris show (Catwalk Queen)

“Instead, the designer is working on a new ‘masstige’ ready-to-wear collection in a bid to change the brand image into a more commercial line… The collection will be ready for A/W 2011, and will be sold online.”

Richemont sales beat forecast, Asian demand soars (Reuters)

“Swiss luxury goods group Richemont’s five-month sales jumped 37 percent, beating forecasts and confirming a rebound in the sector as wealthy Asians splash out again on top-end watches and jewellery.”

Phillips-Van Heusen raises outlook (Reuters)

“Apparel maker Phillips-Van Heusen Corp posted an adjusted quarterly profit that surpassed analysts’ expectations, helped by revenue gains in all three units, including its newly-acquired Tommy Hilfiger brand.”

Anna Wintour Weaves Her Web (WWD)

“Just what Anna Wintour needed: another project. On the eve of New York Fashion Week and a mere two days before her brainchild, Fashion’s Night Out… she is unveiling the new vogue.com.”

Fashion’s Night Out: The Show

Last night, I got a taste of what New York Fashion Week would be like if it was produced by Anna Wintour. Every show would begin on time. Only the best of the best designers would be invited to participate. And the music would be very, very good.

That pretty much sums up Fashion’s Night Out: The Show, which took place last night at the courtyard in Lincoln Center. Over a 1,000 looks–styled by Tabitha Simmons and Edward Enninful–stomped down a twisting runway that must have been a quarter of a mile long in total. Everyone–from Alex Wang to Balenciaga–was featured. Simmons and Enninful chose to style the models as they were originally styled, meaning Prada‘s girls got boufants, and Balenciaga’s wore pastel eyebrows. It was unoriginal, but with so many looks, understandable. Pretty much every model working today walked, including favorites of mine like Dree Hemingway and Ashley Smith. Gisele even made an appearance near the end, shortly after NERD performed in the center of the venue.

The paper program was masterful, save for a weirdly photo-shopped Lara Stone on the cover. (A friend said that her waist “looked tinier than Karly’s–creepy.”) Every single clothing credit was included, which is a two day-long job on its own.

All in all, it was a successful event. Especially for those who hadn’t seen these looks come down the runway last February. I think the most impressive part was that there were only two rows of seats–very similar to the way Prada was laid out for the Fall shows–which meant everyone got their money’s worth.

Get Your iPads Ready: Style.com’s App Launches Today

The genius of Style.com‘s iPhone application is undeniable. For anyone who considers the site a resource–a sort of modern fashion library, if you will–the app has made searching for a specific look, a front row image, or a show date as easy as a flick of the thumb. That’s why over 750,000 people have downloaded it over the last couple of years.

The Conde Nast site’s new application for the iPad, which launches today, is similar in its function–just bigger and better.

“Some around the office are calling it fall’s must-have accessory,” editor-in-chief Dirk Standen jokes, kind of. In reality, it’s got all the “core elements” of Style.com’s iPhone app, but with the advantage of a much larger, clearer screen. Which means videos play a bigger role in the overall content strategy. In fact, Style.com has teamed up with Nowness on a co-produced video series. There will also be interactive shopping videos–bringing the site’s market stories to life–as well as Tim Blank’s classic runway videos. (Great news for those of us who were huge fans of his E! show Fashion File.)

Maybe most important, though, is the fact that all Style.com runway content will be available–all the way back to 2000. And the images are big and beautiful. They’re more saturated and alive than any other device–even my 27-inch iMac computer screen.

The runway section of the app works very much like the website–you can click on thumbnails instead of going through a whole slideshow.

All in all, it works really well. It’s useful. And that’s where most fashion apps miss the point. If the the app doesn’t have a purpose, then users will quickly forget about them. Style.com’s app is sticky because it’s a necessity for its reader.

Why can’t most magazines figure this bit out? Standen believes some pubs have difficulty translating their content onto a new-fangled toy because they haven’t mastered the internet yet. “Style.com was born digital,” he says. “We know how to create compelling fashion content for the web.”

You can download Style.com’s new app onto your iPad today. And yes, it’s free.

Six Breakout Models of Spring 2011

Model castings can be a black hole in the minds of the fashion press, since most occur very privately, behind closed doors. Luckily enough for us, however, casting director Andrew Weir of ACW Worldwide invited us to observe a massive casting for the Spring 2011 season.

Hopping at the chance to see models in their natural habitat, I made sure not to miss this event. Hundreds of girls lined the hallways of the Hudson Hotel, books and heels in hand. Inside the gorgeous Husdon Library, girls were photographed, walked, “scored,” and entered into ACW’s database in a flurry of business and buzz. To the untrained eye it was tough to distinguish which models were the best and which were the worst, until they walked. The best girls had strides long and fast, their hair flying in a self-generated breeze, among them Fashionista faves Ashley Smith, Ann Kenny, and Kirby Kenny.

Andrew Weir found six gems at his casting, sure to be the big stars of Spring 2011. It’s all about that je ne sais quoi for Mr. Weir, as well as finding “strong, beautiful, healthy, magnificent women.”

Breaking: Brandon Holley Has Been Named Editor of Lucky

Nice bomb to drop the day before Fashion Week.

Former ElleGIRL and Jane editor-in-chief Brandon Holley has been named editor of Lucky. She will succeed Kim France, reports WWD.

Most recently, Holley was content director at Yahoo! Shine, the portal’s channel for women.

Holley is a good fit for Lucky, which houses plenty of former Jane and Sassy staffers, including creative director Andrea Linett. While the copy is minimal and fairly sterile, the market pages and designer profiles are the dream of a certain type of editor. The clothes, products, and accessories–from brands like Mayle and Lyell to Rebecca Minkoff–are things these women would actually wear. And Holley fits into that mold–slightly indie, but not snobby.

However, she does have a big challenge ahead of her. Despite being what we’d assume is an advertiser’s dream–a magazine about shopping–Lucky has struggled to increase numbers over the last few years. When its sister magazine, the shelter title Domino, folded in early 2009–some feared the same would happen to Lucky.

Conde Nast said they closed Jane because it was hard to pitch to advertisers. It wasn’t a luxury title like W. It’s not Vogue. And it’s not mass like Glamour or Self. Smart, quirky content is a difficult pitch.

In an odd way, Lucky struggles with the same thing. Maybe Holley’s learned from what happened at Jane, and from those lessons will come her new strategy. What’s more, she now has the web experience that Lucky desperately needs. We wish her the best of luck and can’t wait to see the changes she makes at Lucky.

Fashion News Roundup: Carey’s Charming Vogue Cover, Tavi’s Styling Gig and More

Carey Mulligan Covers October Vogue We were right again. We were pretty excited about this and it’s definitely our favorite Vogue cover in a while; maybe just because we love Carey so much and that Chanel couture number is refreshingly edgy for the American glossy. The shoot was styled by Grace Coddington and shot by Peter Lindbergh. {Catwalk Queen}

The “New” Chanel Iman: Chanel Iman, who at 19 years old is well on her way to becoming a household name, is ready to change and evolve. With fashion week imminent, the runway fixture and Victoria’s Secret model has just signed with IMG after seven months with Supreme. “It’s the celebration of a new me,” she says. {Daily Front Row}

Tavi Styles at Fashion Week: Tavi continues to be unstoppable. Part of Alice & Olivia’s presentation will be styled by the 14 year old blogger. Designer Stacey Bendet calls her “one of the most original people in fashion right now.” {Elle.com}

The Row Gets Futuristic:
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (or their marketing and sales teams) are bringing online shopping to a new level with the launch of The Row’s super tech-savvy e-commerce site. The site will include shoppable video technology, meaning it will feature videos of looks going down a runway that shoppers can click on and buy while the model is in motion. {Style.com}

Last Night’s Parties: Jessica Simpson Stomps, Kate Spade Twirls

Before and after Fashion’s Night Out: The Show, I made my way to the night’s two biggest events: The launch of Jessica Simpson’s denim collection and the Kate Spade/Elizabeth Arden-hosted dinner to celebrate the launch of the brand’s new fragrance, Twirl.

Simpson’s soiree was a lively party in her apparel label’s showroom, DJed by brother-in-law Pete Wentz and featuring Simpson and friends show off the jeans, as well as some Spring 2011 offerings. The snacks were good–mini everything, from grilled cheese to hamburgers to BLTs–and the atmosphere was bright and buzzy. Simpson’s friends, including CaCee Cobb (who we’re particularly fond of because she’s married to Donald Faison, aka Murray from Clueless) scooted around the room in their new clothes. In reality, there were few actually examining at the wares–most onlookers seemed to want to get a good view of Simpson’s bod rather than her jeans. But I’ll say that there were some lovely shoes in the mix–particularly a pair of brown heeled hiking boots. Simpson’s shoe collection–when she’s not knocking off other labels–is really great. There–I’m admitting it!

I soon moved on to FNO: The Show, which you can read about here. Then it was time to head down to Tribeca, where the Kate Spade gals were clinking champagne at the Smyth Hotel’s Plein Sud in honor of Twirl, a new fragrance produced in conjunction with Elizabeth Arden. The tables were lined with tiny vintage vases, filled with red roses, pink peonies, and other lovely blooms. The room was set up to mimic the scene in the campaign, which Britt got to see the making of last spring. There were plenty of bright young things around to toast, including the gorgeous Jessica Szohr, Lonneke Engel, and Alexis Bledel. It was an evening filled with beautiful vintage-inspired jewelry, 1950s and ’60s-style party frocks, and a very, very good steak au poivre.

Along the way I fell in love with the dress worn by the lead singer of Lapis Luna, the jazz band that entertained us over the course of the evening. It turns out it’s the dress that Lonneke Engel is wearing in the campaign, and they produced it specifically in honor of the new fragrance–there will only be a few available. With a pleated gold lame skirt and gold sequin top, it’s the perfect holiday frock.

As much as I was enjoying my time with the Twirl crowd, it was time to head home. Must rest up for what’s to come!

10 Questions for The Rachel Zoe Project

1. Hey Brad, Rodger, can I have the rest of your pasta?

2. How do you communicate with Italian designers when you can’t speak Italian? Kiss, kiss. Breathless utterance about how ah-mazing the collection was. Ciao ciao. Beyond.

3. Could we see more fashion porn in every episode please? Loved the footage of the Milan shows.

4. When can Johnny Weir join the cast? I want to see him do excited claps every episode.

5. Did Brad and Johnny Weir just have a model stomp-off? How come they can walk in heels that high and I can’t?

6. Rachel can have Versace dresses made to order for the Oscars? That is impressive.

7. So Rachel carries and gives birth to dresses instead of babies? Does that mean the “Is Rachel going to have a baby?” plot line will end? Nope.

8. Did anyone else think Rodger’s bitch fit was well-deserved? The “continuous cycle of dresses and drama and stress” and Joey sticking his tongue out at me over breakfast at my own kitchen table would make me super bitchy too.

9. Which stylist beat Rachel out for that Marchesa gown that ended up Sandra Bullock?

10. Not a question, just a thank you. Thank you Brad, for the awesome 90210 reference. And thank you Johnny Weir for getting it, and saying “What kind of man would I be if i hadn’t seen that episode?” Gros bisous.

How’d You Get So Far? Gayle Dizon’s Honest Answer to Succeeding in Fashion

If you’ve been to a big show at New York Fashion Week, you know Gayle Dizon’s work. She’s the powerhouse behind Dizon, Inc., a 10-year-old event production company that organizes shows for the likes of Proenza Schouler, ADAM, and Thakoon. She also happens to be one of the nicest people I’ve ever met in the industry. People that work with her/have worked with her have nothing but good things to say–and that’s a true test of success.

Gayle was gracious enough to answer our standard questions on how to succeed in fashion. We hope you learn something–we sure did!

How did you get started?

I came to NY right after college with the intention of working in fashion. Having gone through the summer intensive fashion design program at Parsons during college, I thought that I wanted to pursue design. Two days after arriving in NY I got lucky with my first interview, at Calvin Klein, and was offered a job there. I have Lynn Tesoro to thank for that! She interviewed me and that night I got a call to start on Monday. I was very hungry to learn and absorb everything I could. I quickly moved from answering phones, into PR, then into production of the shows, presentations, photo shoots, and the other special events. The close collaboration with the design team satisfied my interest in fashion design. I learned different ways to approach exhibiting and highlighting the clothes by working with all of the elements that excited me–styling, music, lighting, hair, make-up, casting. Calvin, especially during those years, was a great place to learn the entire business. I had the fortune of being able to work with phenomenal talents like Zack Carr, Narciso Rodriguez, Jessica Weinstein, Joe McKenna, Lori Goldstein, Melanie Ward–the list goes on. It was the most inspiring and creative group of people you could imagine. And learning the intricacies of the industry with the Calvin team and through the perspective of a fashion house that has such a clear and cohesive vision was amazing. That immersion in a world that is so focused in brand identity still helps to inform how I approach the projects I work on now.

Name one quality that contributed to your success.

I think a constant need to learn something new has been the key. I’m very inquisitive and am inspired by new experiences and concepts. I find that it’s often the least obvious detail or fragment of a new piece of art or movie that resonates and works its way into what we do, so I really try to absorb as much of what is happening in art, music, film as possible. This job requires constant research in all of those disciplines and really, in all things cultural. It’s really great when I can use some odd reference like the puff of liquid nitrogen in molecular gastronomy to inspire a lighting moment.

What is the best piece of advice you would give to an aspiring runway/event producer trying to make it in the industry?

Assist! It is vital to have experience working in the different facets of the industry in order to understand the big picture. The runways are where everything comes together. Study all of the talent–stylists, hair, make-up, set and lighting designers–understand how clothes work and move, get familiar with fabric, know who the models are and the story that a casting can communicate about a collection or a brand, and most of all, learn how to organize all the information!

YSL’s New Manifesto Hits New York on September 14

Get excited: YSL’s Fall/Winter 2010-2011 Manifesto is about to launch right here in New York. The publication, along with a Stefano Pilati-designed tote, will be distributed on city streets this coming Tuesday, September 14. It’ll be passed around the rest of the world–meaning Paris, London, Milan, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Beirut–on Saturday, September 18.

The 7th edition of the coveted pamphlet was photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, with campaign model Daria Werbowy starring. While over half a million copies will be distributed, only the first 2,000 people to be handed a manfesto will receive the custom zippered wristlet Pilati designed to accompany the initiative.

Listen, I still carry around my Christy Turlington bag circa Fall/Winter 2009-2010, so this is sure to be another collector’s item.

11 FNO Parties You Can't Miss

You know what they say—"second is the best." If our poor email inboxes are any indication, this maxim certainly proves apt in the case of Fashion's Night Out, now in its second year. We shed blood, sweat, and tears combing through thousands of emails and a paper-mill's worth of invites to assemble the ultimate list of FNO parties. While we had to chop down soireées from some of our fave friends (sad face), we think the itinerary is comprehensive enough for even the most die-hard fashionista.

Don't worry, we've got the who, what, and why! Click through here to see 11 events that made the cut.

We Hung With Jessica Simpson's Friends At Her Spring Collection Party

jessica-simpson-jeans-collection-01.jpg

Last night, we got to 'hang out' with Jessica Simpson and her friends for the launch of her jeanswear line at her NYC showroom, where the star also debuted her spring '11 collection. Despite the barbs of the tabloids, in person she is more than the girl-next-door pretty, with a body that the average American can relate to. The same can be said for many of the friends Simpson enlisted to model the clothing, ending in a cattle-call like presentation where Cacee Cobb, and some other peeps we've never heard of, walked down a wooden contraption while Simpson hollered out things like 'look at that booty.' Like many a celeb label, the pieces are all over the map—we spotted a striped backpack that we l-o-v-e-d, as well as some denim-and-leather booties and a camo blazer that we wouldn't refuse. But, there were also quite a few fashion fails, including a jean, zip-up bustier, a printed tank with a strange ruffle on the bottom, and loads of stuff that would look great on Arlene from True Blood.

jessica-simpson-jeans-collection-02.jpg

Sartorial opinions aside, the party guaranteed Simpson would shine in the best light—surrounded as she was by her home-girls, her bubbly mom, and her sis, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz (who also modeled). Also present was her new boyfriend Eric Johnson (he's insanely handsome), who, when asked about the line, responded, 'Oh shit' before Simpson's publicist shooed us away. In fact, publicists were uber-busy all night...every time we tried to snap a pic from our camera phone of Jessica, a slew of handlers would angrily step in. 'It's like Fort Knox in here...everything seems so staged, image-wise," one editor grumbled. Be that as it may, we kind of liked that Simpson played up her country-cultivated persona—mini beer shooters, hot dogs, and tiny rum-and-cokes were passed around, and all guests generously got a free pair of jeans to take home. Simpson will never be Victoria Beckham, but at this point in her life, she doesn't seem to want that—Us Weekly be damned!

Lou Doillon Will Be Walking In Tom Ford's Show This N.Y. Fashion Week

It was revealed that It-Girl and unconventional beauty Lou Doillon will be walking in the Tom Ford's show this NY Fashion Week. This won't be Lou's first time stomping the catwalk—she also walked at the fall '04 Hermes show, but hasn't been there yet (perhaps due to harsh criticism from forum-posters. Willowy and statuesque (and as daughter to Jane Birkin, can you blame her?), this move won't be diversifying the runways, but we love Lou's gangly, endearingly awk-alt look too much. See you at the shows, lady! (WWD)

Check Out Laurel Wells' Fringed, Feathered Necklaces

If there is a silver lining, however frayed, to the economic maelstrom and its effect on the fashion industry, it may be that many formerly employed designers are back in their own studios cautiously creating new work. Case in point: Laurel Wells and her new line of jewelry, one that has already inspired a mild degree of obsession around this office. Wells moved to Brooklyn in 2003 and launched her eponymously-named clothing line. Four years later she shuttered the line and signed on as director of apparel at cult brand Hayden Harnett. Now back in her native Atlanta, the 31-year-old has launched a collection that trendsetting boutiques like Sodafine in Brooklyn's fashionable Williamsburg neighborhood and Eskell in Chicago have already snapped up. The hand-dyed rayon fringe necklaces, punctuated with delicate chains, feathers and a loom-beaded medallion of Czech seed beads, reflect a main source of inspiration for Wells: Native American artisanry. But the unique color gradients of the fringe, rendered in intense hues like electric blue and canary yellow, make a more modern statement. 'I like to think an extraordinary accessory can completely transform any outfit,' says Wells. We couldn't agree more.

Willow Smith Raps On Her First Single

We all know Willow Smith has a unique sense of style, but who knew she could sing like Rihanna? The adorbs daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith has just come out with her first single, and we have to admit it's as catchy as it is age-appropriate. Evidently according to mom, Willow is already recording a full-length album, so this is just the first taste of what's to come. But don't take our word for it, listen to the song here and tell us what you think of 'Whip My Hair.' (E!)

60 Seconds With Devon Aoki

devon-aoki-nyfw-2010.jpgLast night, we started NYFW a little early with a super-chill supper on ASMALLWORLD Chairman Patrick Liotard Vogt's rooftop. The soirée, an informal kick-off to fashion week with magician David Blaine in support of Lets F Cancer, had a smattering of familiar front row faces—Waris Ahluwalia, Bonnie Morrison, Lorenzo Martone, Fernanda Motta, and Devon Aoki, whom we zeroed in on to scoop her Fashion Week plans. The model and actress, who is hard-to-talk to hot, was more than happy to chat with us, and by the end of the convo, we sorta want her to be our best friend.

Let's cut to the chase! What are you doing for Fashion Week?

"I'm here working. It's become the most exciting event in NYC I think—for me it's always been a lot of fun. It's really cool to see the ads in the taxis, every store has FNO posters in the windows. The energy around the event and around the week is really powerful."

Are you doing any shows?

'I don't really do shows so much anymore...I am past my expiration date, honestly.'

Umm. Impossible. Are you hosting anything from FNO?

'I'll be at the Valentino event. Playing poker.'

Are you good at poker. Are you gonna whoop our ass?
'No I am not, but I guess I should sit next to you. I am gonna really need help.'

We can't bluff though.

'Yea, we're gonna need the idiots guide to poker!'

Let's move on! What's your secret for looking good for NYFW?

"With all the delicious food and wine everywhere, just try and make it to the gym for an hour. Or if you can try and hit Central Park—I like to run and bike there."

What's you fave all-time piece of clothing that you own?

"It would have to be a vintage Azzedine Alaïa gown that's beaded—it's maroon, it's gorgeous, I think it's from the '80s."

Will it make an appearance during Fashion Week?

'No, I didn't bring it. I am really looking forward to wearing something that I haven't worn yet. That's a favorite piece, though, if only because it was a gift from my mother. Anything from my mom has sentimental value, and I am kinda excited that she decided to give me those things.'

What's one of your favorite beauty products....we all want to look like you!

'I use a lot of things...you don't want to go into my bathroom right now. But, I have been using a Bobbi Brown foundation lately that I really like. I also use Juicy Tubes by Lancome.

Ha, that's really high school.

'Yea it is, but I can't get away from the lip gloss thing!'

We promised we'd be as clueless as her on Friday night when it comes to poker, and in the meantime, we're running to Sephora to grab a Juicy Tube—Cherry Burst to be exact.

Under Investigation: $1 Bronzer from e.l.f

2401_4_healthy-glow-bronzing-powder_zoom_closBeing a recent college grad and being tight for cash, seeing $1 e.l.f. bronzer at Target was like seeing an answer to my prayers. The impulse buy left me wary after realizing “dang, Aimee! How good of a bronzer can this be for only $1?” Well, my fellow recessionistas, I’ll let you in on a little beauty secret. This bronzer isn’t too shabby. In fact, the first day I tried it, went to work, and was immediately asked what I had done differently. Guess I had a summer glow that my coworkers were now envious of.

A few cons about the 1 buck bronzer though. It does require blending because it goes on pretty heavy for daytime use, perfect for nighttime use though. Also, if using too dark of a shade, it could completely make you look washed out. No beuno.

E.l.f (eyes, lips, face) is a cosmetic company that offers inexpensive beauty products for budget shoppers like me. You can snatch up some mascara for $1-$3 or some lipstick for $1-$5. Check them out here or at my favorite store, Target. Remember though, you do get what you pay for!

Dolce Chica’s Mini Food-Review

elc1

First of all, I LOVE FOOD! I’m constantly visiting different restaurants and trying out new delicious dishes. A couple of weeks ago, my boyfriend and I visited Il Cielo, an amazing Italian restaurant in Beverly Hills. We had dinner outside the patio area and it was incredible. The twinkling lights and candles scene made the whole experience romantic. The waiters were very attentive and nice. Not to mention the food was great! I definitely recommend this place to everyone. Are there any restaurants you are obsessed with? Share them with us and maybe I’ll catch you there one day, hehe.

Check out a few photos of what I got for dinner! Oh, and if you are hungry, I suggest you don’t because every plate looks so damn good.

calam

We started off with some juicy Calamari Fritti Con Pomodoro . It’s accompanied with a delicious marinara sauce. I kept asking for more, yummy!

The bf loves sea food so he ordered Zuppa Di Pesce which includes clams, calamari, hawaiian blue prawns, mussels and white fish served in a light spicy tomato broth.

salmon1

I’m not a big fan of seafood, but I LOVE salmon. I ordered Salmon arrosito con peperoni e melanzane alla griglia. After trying this, I wanted to take the Italian chef with me, he was so good! I mean, the food was so good!! ;)

Boots: Do you have too many, or not enough?

photo

Boots! Ankle boots, booties, mid boots, knee high boots, engineer boots, peep toe, studded, harness… And so on. It’s getting to that cold time of year that I can’t stop thinking about boots! As if I don’t have enough there’s always another pair of boots that I want. Sure they all LOOK a little similar, but they’re not. I have ones with a hidden wedge, heeled, and flats! Different material and fits. Definitely not done with my boot collection and I will probably buy a few more this fall/winter.

The first pair of boots that got me hooked were The Winnie by 80%20 - they have a hidden wedge and were worn nearly every day and now the soles are worn to death. My favorite ones (right now) are by Steve Madden and have a half inch-slight wedge. Boots I have wanted but never purchased are red or a navy blue, and black knee highs! Worried that they might be thigh highs on me though. The ones I’m looking for now are worn black engineer boots.

Anyone have suggestions?

Am I ridiculous? Have you phased boots out of your wardrobe or are you still on the boot kick like me?
