How to Pick Good Quality Shoes

Posted: 08 Jun 2010 08:38 PM PDT
There are times when we pick shoes based on the style and style only, forgoing the quality and the workmanship of the shoes. Those days are over for me though since I did a spring cleaning on my closet the other day and realized that I was putting away some of the poorly made shoes [...]

When I posted on my Twitter that I was going to get a smoothing, I received many remark. “But you have straight hair?!”. Well yeah if you saw my hair on today’s outfit post or meet me during one of the gatherings, of course my hair was straight, I made a pit stop to the [...]

If there’s one thing I would never grow tired of … that would be black dress. One can never have too many black dresses, don’t they? That’s why, every sale season the first thing I would check on the sale rack would be a black dress. I don’t know what kind of magic spell they [...]

What They Wore: CFDA Awards 2010

.
While celebrity street style always inspires us to go from one day to the next in on-trend ensembles, your Who What Wear editors can't help but go ga-ga for a good gala. After all, we're magpies for a touch of sparkle and can be serious geeks for glitz, hence our excitement about the annual CFDA Fashion Awards! The ceremony, which took place on Monday night at Lincoln Center, is always a must-attend event and invariably attracts the leaders of the fashion pack wearing boldly beautiful looks. But before we get to the fabulous frocks and, ahem, killer pantsuit, a little background on this illustrious event!

Every year, The Council of Fashion Designers of America honors the top names in fashion in a variety of categories, and this year's accolades went to tastemakers we truly could not live without. Michael Kors pocketed the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, Marc Jacobs claimed his ninth Womenswear Designer of the Year statue, Alexis Bittar took home the title of Accessory Designer of the Year, Jason Wu won the Swarovski Award for Womenswear, and hometown favorite Alexander Wang snagged the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design. And while Ralph Lauren may have won the CFDA's popular vote, it's the eleven attendees we present you with today who were cause for our personal sartorial celebration. These ladies not only brought style in spades, often opting for a cool palette of black and white or a bold pop of pattern, but they also instantly intrigued us with their unfussy looks. The simplicity of their red-carpet outfits remind us that looking chic is all about the harmony of a few well-chosen accessories highlighting the construction of a well-made piece. Which is—when the last champagne flute has been emptied and the last Choo surreptitiously slipped off—what a soiree honoring fashion should be all about!—Liza Kaplan

Bikinis Are Out, One-Pieces are In! (CollegeCandy.com Guest Post)

Posted: 09 Jun 2010 01:47 AM PDT

From our friends at CollegeCandy.com:
Good (no, great!) news, ladies!
One-pieces are totally in this summer, which has us happy as a clam since the past few weeks of finals have left no time for the gym and a lot of time for late-night food deliveries. For the first time since middle school we can actually feel sexy and trendy rockin' something at the pool that isn't a bikini (and doesn't give us uni-boob like a Speedo!).
There are so many gorgeous, sexy and flattering one-pieces out there right now and I spent hours scouring the Internet to find the best ones for you. (OK, so I did it for me, but I'm sharing the fruits of my labors with you people.) There's a wide variety of style, coverage, and price so everyone can find somethin' they love. Slip on one of these and all eyes will be on you at the beach this summer! Enjoy!

If you're not lucky enough to be flaunting this number around the pool at an island resort, it will make you feel like you are with it's gorgeous ruffles, flower print and gold accents! Plus, it looks like a bikini from the back if you're still getting used to the one-piece thing. (Oh, and it just happens to be on major sale right now. What's not to love?!)

This piece by Kimchi Blue is the bomb.com- the perfect mix of sweet and sexy. The coverage is balanced by the plunging neckline and cute cutout in the back- and it comes in three different colors!

A bright-colored one-piece that covers my belly while complementing my tan, for 20 bucks!? Oh Forever 21, how I love thee.

Oh my God, this one is JUST. SO. CUTE. The tie at the bust line accentuates and adds a whole lot of sexy, while the ruched midsection and ruffled hem are totally flattering for those who want the most coverage. Plus, once again, it's on sale!

This one's a splurge, but it's GORGEOUS, and I have a mild obsession with all things Marc Jacobs. I'm absolutely in love with the hot pink color and ruffles. First summer paycheck, where are you!?!?

So cute, so flattering, and so cheap!  This one's a basic staple that will look good on everyone.

The retro style of this suit makes it flattering. The metallic shine makes it faboulous. Wear this to the beach and you'll be what the name says – a bathing beauty.
