QVC viewers can choose from more than 100,000 pairs of shoes from 100 brands to support breast-cancer research, including this suede and leather pump created by Fergie.
When we go shoe shopping, it’s almost always an act of indulgence that we rationalize as retail therapy. After all, why go to the shoemaker to resole our old booties when the fourth floor of Barneys has hundreds of nice new ones? But this month we can feel better about our purchases knowing the money will go toward a good cause.
In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, QVC will team up with the Fashion Footwear Association of New York (FFANY) for an annual shoe-sale fundraiser that benefits breast-cancer research, airing Friday, Oct. 15, from 7–10 p.m. ET. This year, guests can choose from more than 100,000 pairs from 100 popular brands — including Anne Klein, Coach, DKNY, Kenneth Cole New York, MICHAEL Michael Kors and Nine West — at half the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. Singer and songwriter Fergie is the spokeswoman for this year’s event. (Her company has donated the supercute magenta pump above.)
Over the last 16 years, QVC’s “FFANY Shoes on Sale” has sold more than 1.5 million pairs of shoes and donated upwards of $32 million to the cause. “The broadcast is always exciting and offers shoppers a chance to do good while shopping for fabulous shoes,” says Karen Fonner, vice president of multichannel programming and media relations at QVC. “This year, we hope to raise even more money.”
If you can’t tune in for the scheduled broadcast, you can watch QVC on any weekday from 7–9 a.m. ET and purchase the “Shoe of the Day.” Or order from the online collection on QVC.com during the entire month of October, while supplies last.
If shoes are not your obsession, you can take advantage of the Ralph Lauren Pink Pony Charity Auction now through Oct. 21 and bid on over 300 unique experiences — from front row seats at a Ralph Lauren fashion show to a bike ride with Lance Armstrong. All purchases will benefit the Pink Pony Fund of the Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation, an organization dedicated to cancer care and prevention. To place a bid, go to charitybuzz.com.
