When you think “museum benefit” you don’t immediately think of the downtown fashion, art, and design cool kids club, but that’s exactly what the Museum of Arts & Design’s (MAD) young patron’s gala on October 18th promises to be.
Like last year, the folks involved are a veritable who’s who of the downtown scene. Richard Meier, Joe Manganiello, Hannelore Knuts, Waris Ahluwalia and Julie Ragolia co-chair this year’s gala to benefit the museum’s arts education program. Chris Benz, Mandy Coon, Leigh Lezark and Pamela Love are among the names on the host committee. Paul Sevigny, Leo Fitzpatrick & Chrissie Miller and Chelsea Leyland will DJ. And because the event is for the museum’s “young patrons,” ticket prices, which range between $200 and $400, are actually pretty affordable for this kind of thing. You can buy them here.
The gala, called Metalball, will showcase the work of artists who have created works around a “metal” theme. Even model, artist, and co-chair Hannelore Knuts got in on the metal theme, producing this trippy art video with designer Christian Joy for the benefit. It’s sure to wake you up this morning. And we’ve got the first look. Check it out:
