Everyone has their favorite T-Shirts, including Alexa Galler, 28-year-old Parsons graduate and designer of Eighteenth NYC. Faced with creating yet another fashionable ensemble out of her go-to jeans-and-tee, Galler decided to take matters into her own designing hands and create an interesting version of everyone’s wardrobe basic.
One of the key themes in Galler’s line is asymmetry. “I like to create balanced garments with slight asymmetrical details”, says the designer. Looking forward to the Spring/Summer 2011 collection, Eighteenth NYC focused on innovative hemlines of varying lengths and shapes as a way of reinventing the tee. From off-centered basics to the cutting-edge angles that have come to represent the brand, the SS2011 collection presents a fashion forward alternative to a basic style. The Spring/Summer 2011 collection also sees the addition of boldly cut skirts and dresses, and all styles are now available in a cool shade of grey.
