Fashion News Roundup: Miniature Anna and Grace, Stam’s Designs for Macy’s and J. Crew’s Outlet Plans

Vogue Dolls: Andrew Yang, maker of fashion-inspired rag dolls and part of Barneys’ very long Fashion’s Night Out line up has been commissioned by the retailer to create one of a kind replicas of Vogue editors Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington. The dolls took two weeks to make. “I had to special-order Anna’s wig and cut it myself to get the bob right,” Mr. Yang says. “And Grace’s hair was the right color, but it needed a perm.” Want one? Go to charitybuzz.com on August 31 to bid. All proceeds will go towards the New York AIDS fund. {The Moment}

From Muse to Designer: Images from Jessica Stam’s latest design gig are out. She designed four pieces for Rachel Roy’s diffusion line for Macy’s, Rachel by Rachel Roy. There’s a cute gingham cardigan but the other three pieces are a belt, a basic pair of black skinnies and a basic black purse. There’s nothing bad about them, but we’re not quite blown away. {Fashionologie}

Wintour vs. Federer:
Even those far outside the fashion industry are subjected to Anna Wintour’s sartorial influence. An avid tennis fan, Anna has apparently been giving Roger Federer fashion advice. “I kind of ask her sometimes what she thinks,” he said. “I get a very strong second opinion.” {NY Mag}

Online Outlet: Instead of putting up another brick and mortar out in the middle of nowhere, J. Crew has decided to make outlet shopping convenient by bringing it online. In the age of online discounters like Gilt and Ideeli, this sounds like a smart move. {WSJ}
