Google Wants to Be More Fashionable

Google thinks fashion bloggers understand social media better than those covering other industries. So one of the world’s most powerful companies is tapping the brains of some of the world’s most powerful bloggers in order to get a better sense of how they consume and use media. Google is calling the program GStyle.

At the helm of the project is Tony Wang of post.fashionism.com.

A long list of bloggers were emailed by Wang on Monday, asking if they were interested in being interviewed by Google. The interview would consist of questions regarding “how you use internet technologies, your challenges as a blogger, and how Google can help you become the best blogger possible.”

The program, currently in pilot mode, is not a secret operation, but is in internal. The information Google is gathering is only for Googlers. At least for now.

What’s more, we learned today that both Garance Dore and Tommy Ton would be giving are in the pipeline, but not confirmed, to give speeches at the Google offices in New York at some point over the next couple of months. Their appearances are related to the GStyle project.
