8 Celebrity Hairstyles You Should Steal, 8 Places You HAVE To Have Afternoon Tea at

Posted: 30 Jun 2010 11:54 AM PDT
Celebrities have great hair, that's no secret, but they also have numerous stylists to keep each strand looking great and in place. That doesn't mean you can't get perfect hair, though, just that you'll need to pick your style carefully, and use some great products to keep it in check. I've been changing my hair a lot recently, and here are the 8 celebrity hairstyles you should definitely steal…

1. High Drama Curls A La Blake Lively

Who doesn't love Blake's great curls? Whether they are loose and casual, like above, or dressed up for a night out, they always look great, and so easy to maintain! The key things in this look are the shine, the fullness and the bounce, so your hair needs to be healthy. Make sure you use a heat spray before curlers or straighteners, and use a paddle brush to lift hair at the roots and inject volume. If you use a curler, comb them afterwards, to give them a more carefree and retro look then ringlets.

2. Beachy Waves A La Mary Kate Olson

I love Mary Kates hair. It's the perfect look for Summer, mixing sexy waves with a carefree, Surfers edge, and it makes whatever she is wearing look kitsch, effortless and cool. Let your hair dry naturally after washing, and spray it with a texturising spray. Then scrunch the ends of your hair, and let it dry into waves. Need a little more oomph? Use some curling irons, and alternate the curls.

3. Light and Bright Blonde A La Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth's light blonde looks great, and really illuminates her face! Achieve the same look by asking your stylist to apply light streaks of a flattering colour through your hair. The difference should be minimal enough to look natural, and the warmer colour will make your face appear more radiant, without losing the blonde colour. Add an edgy effect by starting highlights a few centimetres down the hair.

One of Britain's best traditions is Afternoon Tea. Taking a bit of the afternoon to relax and enjoy the view with a great cup of tea and some homemade snacks is a fantastic idea, but a lot of places seem to be losing this amazing tradition. I'd love to keep it going, though, and here are my favourite places to go for afternoon tea…

1. Idle Rocks Hotel, St Mawes, Cornwall

Idle Rocks Hotel, St Mawes, Cornwall
This gorgeous hotel is in a small fishing village, full of Cornish charm. The afternoon tea is divine! Served on the terrace, you can watch life go past as you enjoy a cream tea, and go for a wander up the harbour afterwards. And if you fancy staying for tea, they have a great selection of lobster, crab and fish dishes, from locally caught produce!

2. Wish Tower Cafe, East Sussex

Wish Tower Cafe, East Sussex
This really is a brilliant cafe. With views over the ocean, the cafe is the perfect place to watch the water while enjoying some very old school treatment. The tea is brewed in stainless steel teapots, and there are cream buns and ice sponges freshly cooked too. There's an amazing Victorian pier to look at afterwards, too. Dreamy!

3. Ocean Bay, Dorset

Ocean Bay, Dorset
This is a great cafe if you want a contemporary afternoon tea. It has an indigo and white decor, which looks great against the Ocean backdrop, and you can enjoy a Dorset cream tea while sitting on the terrace. Want something a little different? They've got cocktails and a modern menu, too, full of local produce and perfect for a light meal. You can even sail here, as there are eight moorings outside…you'll forget about time here, it's an amazing restaurant!

Dieting is boring. I've lost track of how many times I've avoided going out with friends just so that I'm not tempted to sabotage my diet, and after a few days, I always feel miserable and moody anyway. So, I've ditched diets. That's it, I won't do them anymore. I'll try to eat healthily, and only eat things that I enjoy, and will savour. Instead, I'm going to be doing these 10 things to try and stay in shape…

1. Beware The 'Friend'

Beware The 'Friend'

Whether it's malicious or accidental, everyone has those friends who order too much food, insist on sharing the most calorie stuffed desert and won't let you order the healthy option…and they aren't good for your waistline. Your options? Either toughen up, and completely resist the urge to change your menu choice or steal her food, or simply avoid eating with them.

2. Don't Multitask

Don't Multitask
Schedule time to eat into your diary, and don't multitask. If you are reading the paper or watching TV as you eat, its far too easy to mindlessly eat long after you are full. If you give food your full attention, you'll realize when you aren't hungry anymore, and won't consume unnecessary calories. You'll also enjoy your food much more!

3. Power Panties!

Keep your underwear draw stuffed full of your favourite type of pants, and wear them everyday! If you are keeping the underwear that makes you feel good for special occasions, you are seriously missing out. Wearing the right underwear will make you feel gorgeous, and you'll walk gorgeous. Which makes people notice how gorgeous you are. Get my drift?

I used to really, really loathe cleaning the bathroom. It was far and away my least favorite chore. As odd as this may sound, though, I don't dread it anymore! I have a bathroom cleaning bin ready to go, and it's stocked with all the best cleansers. What's in there, you ask, that makes me happy to scrub the toilet, sink, and tub? Here's my list of 7 great bathroom cleaners…

1. Windex

Windex
Price: $5.49 at drugstore.com
What better way to clean your bathroom and vanity mirrors than with classic blue Windex? To get the best streak-free shine, try using a balled-up newspaper instead of a linty cloth, too.

2. Scrubbing Bubbles Daily Shower Cleaner Power Sprayer

Scrubbing Bubbles Daily Shower Cleaner Power Sprayer
Price: $7.64 at drugstore.com
If the idea of cleaning your shower makes you feel almost as bad as cleaning your toilet, then this is the bathroom cleanser for you! Simply spray it on after each shower, and soap scum, mold, and dirt are gone! I love this stuff!

3. Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Cleansing Gel

Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Cleansing Gel

This is such a cool bathroom cleanser! Each box contains six little gels and a plastic applicator. You just clean your toilet and stick one of these gels in the bowl, and each time the toilet flushes, it cleans! Each gel lasts for about 10 days… and they smell so clean!

Who wouldn't want a flat, toned stomach like Gisele? Well, there isn't a trick exercise, or a secret tablet, but there are foods that will help you to pull off a flatter stomach. Interested? Here are eight foods you should definitely be adding to your grocery shopping list

1. Asparagus

Asparagus is a natural diuretic, which means it will help you to shed additional water weight, leaving you with a much skinnier stomach! It's also an aphrodisiac, so including it into your meals could help you to get some extra sexy exercise, too!

2. Blueberries

Blueberries

Blueberries have always been known to be a superfruit, but their true powers are only just being explored. They've been recently revealed to fight stomach fat, and leave you much svelter. They aren't in season for long, but even frozen fruits have the same effect. Blueberry, anyone?

3. Citrus Fruits

Citrus Fruits

Citrus fruits have been proven to aid digestion, which will stop you from bloating. Try adding lemon slices to hot water for a refreshing drink, adding lemon and limes to salads and snacking on oranges. You'll boost your fruit intake and help your body to digest. Getting healthier and looking skinnier?! Yes please!

Your body language speaks just as loud as your spoken word. How you react and move your body in response to questions or simple conversation are true indications of how you truly feel. Do you know what to look for in your friends? What about yourself? What does your body say about you? Keep reading and find out!

1. Pulling Your Feet in Towards You

Pulling Your Feet in Towards You

If you (or your friend) cross your foot behind your ankle and draw your feet in towards your body, you may be saying, "Stay away from me." If you are in an uncomfortable situation, your body will want to flee. Why not run with it?

2. Pointing Your Feet Towards Him

While you are talking to him, pointing your feet forward is saying, "I support you, I am being attentive, and I am here for you." Consciously, you are saying you are truly concerned with his conversation and you are glad to be with him.

3. Mimicking Each Other

If you copy every movement she makes, you are very comfortable with your friend! Does she touch her chin with her knuckles, just like you? Then you two are exhibiting how close your friendship really is!

Raising children is no easy task. There so much we as parents need to learn while our toddlers are learning at the same time. To bad each child wasn't born with it's own personal instruction manual! Because babies are different, no one set of tips work for them all. But I have put together a list of basic needs every toddler has. Hey, there's only one shot as raising a bright, healthy, creative child. We need all the help available! Keep reading to find out my best insights.

1. All babies need love

All babies need love
You may think this is obvious, but it is most important. You baby needs your love and affection. Don't ever assume they "just know" because babies should feel your love with hugs, kisses, pats, and more hugs. Tell them often how much you love them. Babies need love. They need to fell it and they need to hear it.

2. It's all about me

It's all about me
At this young age, toddlers know only one thing and it's me. It really is all about them. They are selfish and they don't care who knows it! It is your job as a parent to know they are only doing what comes naturally. Then, it is important for you to teach how to share, how to think of others, and how to extend themselves beyond their little world. It takes time, but it will eventually happen!

3. They need sleep

They need sleep
Toddlers need more sleep than any other age group! They generally need about 11 hours per night. When a baby misses sleep, he will be one of two different extremes: either he will be excessively wild, or he will be cranky and mean. Make sure your little one gets plenty of rest. You will both feel better.

These are Tiffany Sandals by Bucco Capensis. They have a braided accent down the front with intertwined chain décor, which I think is really cute. The patent style straps have a buckle closure. They are a flat sole, which I'm not a big fan of flat soles, but nonetheless, they are still cute.

9. Butter Floral Slingback Thong Sandal

8. Charlotte Ronson Eleanor Braided Straw and Leather Sandals

My little sister is learning about jobs and careers this term, and her recent homework was to find some of the jobs that she would absolutely love to do, and to quiz her family and friends on this too. Well, after thinking about it for a few hours, I can't decide what I'd love to do most. I did, however, find some jobs that are amazing, and anyone would love…and here they are. 8 jobs you would love to have…you'd have to be insane not too!

1. Doggy Flight Attendant

Doggy Flight Attendant
Have you heard of Pet Airways? Neither had I until a friend flew her dog over recently, and after exploring their website for a while, I found a vacancy for a Doggy Flight Attendant. It's just like a human flight attendant position, but catering for cuties with four legs and a tail, rather then grumpy, loud and often drunk humans. The catch? There isn't one. Free flights around the world, and you have time to do some shopping before accompanying more pets back. What a job.

2. Speed Decorator

Ever noticed that that empty house was horrid for a while, with peeling paint and a broken gate, and seemed to have an overnight makeover the minute it hit the market? Houses showing wear and tear don't sell too fast, so speed decorators give them a stylish new look in record timing, to make them easier to sell on.

3. Professional Social Networker

Whether its blogging about a new product or spreading the news about a new company, professional networkers use their online networking skills to benefit companies, and get paid handsomely for it. So if you are constantly uploading pictures, adding new friends, tweeting and blogging, this could be the job for you!

People tend to think that celebrities do not get stressed out, because they have it all made. Believe it or not, they do get stressed out. Below, I am going to give you 7 celebrities with anxiety disorders…

7. Danny Osmond

At six years of age, he remembered the beginning symptoms of what would later develop into SAD. While he was acting in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," his stage friend was overwhelming. No longer able to cop on his own, he found help and received both therapy and medication. He has openly spoke about this in his autobiography along with his interviews.

6. Paula Deen

This is a famous chef. She is famous for cooking those Southern meals on the Food Network. She has battled agoraphobia, which is the fear of going in a crowded area, for over twenty years. Her fear was so bad that even going to the supermarket to get ingredients was hard.

5. Jessica Alba

Now, what problems could Jessica Alba have on her case? Well, she has the same thing I have! She has OCD, which is an anxiety disorder that gives one the need to repeat certain things, such as hair-combing or hand-washing. It peaked on her 25th birthday, when she got stressed over the two hundred balloons her boyfriend put in the hotel room to surprise her. Don't worry Jessica, not only do I have this problem as well, but about 2.2 million adults in the United States has some type of OCD.

Today, I have decided to write a blog on things to not do with your pimple. You see, pimples are not something that anyone wants to have on their face and there could be some things that you could be doing that make the problem even worse. Below, I am going to give you 13 things to not do with your pimple. If you find that you are doing some of these things, then obviously, you will need to change those habits.

13. Use make-up that is greasy or oily.

2250082083_ff34dc09e0
You need to avoid using oily, greasy makeup. Why? Because it is a known fact that it will clog those pores. Bad makeup is responsible for the development of acne, so the next time you are looking for new makeup, be sure to choose some that will not clog those pores! This is definitely one of those things to not do with your pimple.

12. Neglect the skin.

You should wash your face once in the morning and once during the evening. If you have oily face, then you have to wash your face at least two times a day.

11. Using too much make up.

4606841395_35740a27a5
Using excessive make up will only make that face worse. I am sure you will look good even if you do not have all of that make up on your face.

Animal prints are all over the catwalks this season, showing up all over dresses, handbags, shoes, and more… and they're also hot for home décor, too! But why settle for the same zebra-stripe throw or cheetah-print pillows everyone else has? Find something unique, like these 7 animal-print home décor items…

1. Pottery Barn Seahorse Jacquard Bath Towels

Pottery Barn Seahorse Jacquard Bath Towels
Price: $9.00 – $39.00 at potterybarn.com
Most animal prints are earth-tones, drabs, dull… but these sea animals prints are anything but! I love the sandy brown and delicate blue. Mix and match with other ocean-tones and bit of coral to complete change your bathroom over!

2. Crate & Barrel Cameroon Rectangular Pillow

Crate & Barrel Cameroon Rectangular Pillow
Price: $59.95 at crateandbarrel.com
While this pillow is obviously inspired by animal-print, it's not specific to one animal, so it's perfect for tying a room full of prints and textures together! I love the lush, rich velvet and the gorgeous earth colors…

3. Pier 1 Beaded Giraffe Pillow

Pier 1 Beaded Giraffe Pillow
Price: $19.88 at pier1.com
Giraffe print is so pretty, and so hard to find! But this pillow makes up for that will loads of beaded, glittery opulence. Add to any room for an instant pop of color and texture. I'd add this to any neutral-tone room with an ikat or safari tone. Don't like giraffe prints? No worries! This same pillow is available in zebra print, too…

Summer time is brilliant. Not only is it the perfect time to wear cute outfits and get a tan, but the gorgeous weather means it's the perfect time to play with your children, too. Forget miserable days, and fights over putting on coats and wellies — there's something about sunshine and Summer that make days go flawlessly, so grab your children, and test out my top 7 ways to entertain your kids this Summer.

1. Water Play

Whatever age your children are, they will love playing with water! Younger children will enjoy learning about water and its qualities, so something as simple as seeing what floats and what doesn't can provide hours of entertainment. Older children will love to compete in a water fight, or take water play to a higher level. To keep everyone happy, try taking some remote controlled boats to float on a pond or in a bowl in your garden. Race to the other side!

2. Gardening

Invest in some spades, trowels and seeds, and let your children plant some vegetables. Whether you grow carrots, potatoes or anything else, your children will be learning about how things grow, and you can even plan activities around watching the plants grow, photographing daily progress, and writing a gardening diary. Your children might even eat what they grew!

3. Restaurant

Grab a small plastic table and chairs, and some plastic bowls and cutlery. Then let your kids make mud pies, using leaves, petals and mud to create masterpieces. Take it in turns to be served your meal, and get your hands dirty! It's great fun, and good for motor development too.

There's curiosity … and then there's tactless. Sometimes it's better to keep quiet, however much you want to know something. Here are some questions that should never be asked, either because they may not be taken the right way, or because they're just downright rude.

1. “How old do you think I am?”

Oh dear. The other person just won't know what to say. It's often very difficult to guess, so don't put them in that position.

2. “Don't you want a boyfriend?”

2
Look, what's wrong with being single? Or maybe I'm heartbroken from a failed relationship and don't want to think about dating again. Or gay.

3. “Why don't you have kids?”

3
Or its variant – “when are you going to start a family?” Maybe the person has fertility problems, or is just plain disinterested in the idea. Either way, it's their business.

Many of us share our lives with cats, and yet have no idea of the reasons for some of the things they do. Here are some of the reasons behind cat behaviour.

1. In Heat

Your female kitten starts to jump on you and miaow loud enough to wake the dead. She is in heat. Before she drives you mad, get her to the vet, as the time to sterilize her has come.

2. Hygiene

Your cat starts to pee outside the litter tray. Usually, this is for one of two reasons. Either the cat is being territorial, or is telling you “Stop being lazy and clean that tray out, would you want to park your butt in that?”

3. Marking You

3
The cat rubs around your legs when you come home. Aaah, how sweet, you think. Actually, you are being marked as the cat’s possession. Know your place.

I chose to write this post, because I think being happy is the most important way to be healthy. At times, when I get sad my husband tries to make me happy, because he knows it’s something that needs to be done.  However, I don’t expect him to make me happy all the time, which is why I find ways that make me happy. And here are 10 things that work for me…

10. Vacation!

Vacation!
We all love to take a vacation, because for one, it makes you happy to get away from everyday life. You can take a vacation in the wild or near a beach. We usually go to a Florida beach resort off of Saint Augustine or Daytona. If you don’t have beaches, you should try a cabin or taking a trip overseas. This will definitely put a smile on your face. However, when you look at your bank balance afterwards, you might frown.

9. Spending time with your spouse

Spending time with your spouse

This is my favorite! What makes you the happiest? Your husband right? Well, we hope anyway. If you spend some quality time with your husband, you will definitely feel happier. You can watch a movie or enjoy a peaceful dinner at home while you two talk or go shopping together!

8. Eating out!

From the moment our children are born, we spend our lives loving for them in a million ways, every single day. It's important to let them know how much they mean to you, and that you'll be there for them no matter what, but how? Here's my list of seven simple ways to show your children you love them.

1. Tell them every chance you get

Tell them every chance you get
They might not like it during their pre-teen years, but try including a hand-written love note in their lunch once in a while. It doesn't have to be lengthy or elaborate, just a small note that says "I love you, sweetie, and I hope you have a great day." Every time I do this for my littlest one, she proudly reads it to the rest of her kindergarten lunch table…

2. Let them "help" around the house

Let them
From a young age, most kids want to help with the housework or cooking. Usually, we tend to say no because it's so much faster just to do it ourselves. But if you let them help you, not only will they be learning housekeeping and cooking skills they'll need as adults, they'll get to "impress" you with how well they can make their bed, or fold the socks.

3. Say "no"

Say
Children need limits. They need to hear you say "no" once in a while, and for you to stick to your word. If you say "no," make sure you keep to that "no." Be reasonable, but there will be times you can't say "yes," and your children will know you love them more than the parents who take the path of least resistance and say "yes" to everything.

Have you ever wondered if you could use your time at work to better use? Well, unless it includes shopping or lounging in the Sun, I probably haven't. You can, however, change your working routine a little and boost your metabolism at work. Burning more calories while working? That's multitasking that I like!

1. Stand Up

Stand Up
Sitting down burns around 65 calories an hour, but standing up burns an extra 36 calories per minute! Try to do as much of your job standing as you can. Walk things over to your bosses desk, do filing, and visit the shredder. You'll look more dedicated and organized, and be burning calories too!

2. Squeeze In The Weight Loss

Squeeze In The Weight Loss

While you are working, do squeezes. You can work your bum and stomach this way, and stretch your legs, and as well as becoming much more toned, you'll burn more calories too. Which means you'll give your metabolism a kick start! Do repetitions of eight, and spread your sets out across the day for maximum impact.

3. Schedule Snacking

Schedule Snacking
Schedule your snack times into the day. While eating Dairy Milk sat at your desk might feel more productive, it's actually not. You'll eat more then you need because you are not concentrating, and you will mindlessly gain calories. Schedule five minutes in the morning and afternoon, and walk around a little. Go get a coffee, or leave your snack elsewhere, and enjoy your food. Concentrate on eating it so you stop when you are full, and the exercise will help you to begin to burn off the snack. Perfect!
