As we all have been made painfully aware of the predictions pertaining to the end of the world in 2012 (thanks Mayans!), this film offers an optimistic alternative to all that apocalyptic "doom and gloom." Directed by Emmy Award nominee João Amorim, the film follows journalist Daniel Pinchbeck, author of the bestselling 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl, on a quest to prove the power of one's own spirit and psyche.
The creators are optimistic that the film will bring civilization "From Conscious Evolution to Practical Solutions." Heavy enough for you yet?
Essentially this film is like Vol. 1 of Psychadelic Sciences.. Asking questions like "Can we redesign our civilization?" and "Can we realign ourselves with nature?"
Supporters who came out for the screening included: Padma Lakshmi, Donna Karan and Sting.
Sting (who served on the post-screening Q&A board as well as appearing in the film) was there also to express his optimism for Prop 19.
"Everyone knows the War on Drugs has failed," he said in March. "It's time to step out of our comfort zones, acknowledge the truth - and challenge our leaders, and ourselves, to change."
Of course we won't encourage lighting up, but hitting the bong opposed to apocalyptic doom sounds like a pretty solid alternative to us.
