8 Ways to Become a Better Parent … Posted: 09 Jun 2010 09:21 AM PDT I look forward to playing games every night with my daughter and coloring with her is a great way to distract me from my writing. As I watch my child, I am encouraged to be the best parent she could possibly have. I am always trying to do better for her. You do not have to be the perfect parent, but you should be motivated to do your best each day. There is no denying that this is a big responsibility, so here are 8 ways you can become a better parent right away. 8. Working together will give them the opportunity to speak up and learn how certain things function. Whether you are mowing the lawn, making a scrapbook, cleaning the house, organizing your things or creating something on your computer, do it together. Even by telling your 4-year old to sort socks by color and fold them, you are doing something good. 7. Think before you open your mouth. You are going to become a better parent and make less mistakes if you stick to this one. Words said in impatience or haste can leave a long lasting impression on their tiny hearts and minds. It's like leaving a footprint in cement. Thinking before speaking always pays off, especially when you are angry. 6. Show interest and offer support. Crystal Clear Oxygen Therapy Facial … Posted: 09 Jun 2010 05:38 AM PDT Well, this week was the first week in the “Beauty Treatment A Week” Challenge, and the first beauty treatment is a facial. So it can't be too bad, right?! After hearing about them during London Fashion Week, we excitedly booked ourselves into the exclusive May Fair Hotel, and paid for our treatments. The facial makes lots of promises, but the main one is to pump energy back into tired, dull skin which sounds perfect after such a horrible, long winter! It wasn't until we booked in that we actually read up on the procedure, and started to worry a bit. The Crystal Clear facial is an electric facial, which causes the muscles to contract…just hearing that was enough to have me running for the door, but if Erin O’Conner can do it, so can I, right? My friend convinced me to give it a try and the next morning it was time to meet the therapist. The facial can be tailored to match your skin type and any problem areas you have, so as we started with a deep cleanse and exfoliation, we discussed our skin with the lovely therapist. She really put my mind at ease! After the divine-smelling exfoliater was washed off, a strong anti ageing serum was added to certain areas, and then blasted with oxygen. Instantly, my skin began to tingle, and I could tell something was happening. My friend went next, and I watched it happen to her. As the serum is blasted, the oxygen plumps and hydrates the skin, causing it to lose any fine lines, and look younger, brighter and healthier. It felt so soft too! While I had gone for a rather general facial, my friend wanted to concentrate on her acne-prone areas, and so her facial took a little longer and was a bit more uncomfortable. The blaster sounded like a dentist's drill when it was on strong and it tickled a lot but we were both thrilled with the results! My skin is still looking brighter and younger and feeling much softer and it's been two weeks now. Not bad for a half an hour facial! This got me to thinking about how wrong science fiction has got its predictions of the future, and how inaccurate some books were … although I suppose that's why it's called fiction … 1. We should all have robot servants I wish! I would rather a robot had to do the more unpleasant household tasks like cleaning out the cats' litter tray as long as the odour didn't mess up their wiring. Photo Credit: Dan Coulter 2. Alien invasions Quite why any intelligent species capable of voyaging across the stars would want to invade us is beyond me. I did once have a dream that aliens blew up my home town. If you have not read the book, Liz’s experiences in Italy, India, and Bali might help you regain your sense of self. 2. Fear of Monsters Okay, I am very much familiar with the aswang because I am from the Philippines. I have heard all sorts of aswang stories growing up and they might have scarred me a bit. What I didn’t know was that they do not like semen. INTERESTING. 3.
