8 Great Teen Skin Care Products, 12 Health Tips That Could Change Your Life

Posted: 22 Jun 2010 11:53 AM PDT
As a teenager, I am expected to be stressed about exams, friends and so much more. Therefore, when it comes to beauty products, it gets worse. I've spent about 5 years, used over 50 skincare products and STILL I'm not happy with my skin. So I've researched 8 great teen skin care products that will hopefully make my skin a lot better, and help you guys if you need it.

1. Organic Cranberry Facial Cleansing Foam

Organic Cranberry Facial Cleansing Foam
Price: $18.00 at 100percentpure.com
Firstly, I have fallen in love with "100percentpure.com" and i recommend all of it’s products. They are all completely against animal cruelty, organic–with no synthetic chemicals- that smell delicious and are surprisingly in-expensive. The product that I thought was extremely helpful was the "Organic Cranberry Facial Cleansing Foam" It's 100% vegan, and is gluten free. It works to cleanse away make-up and excess oils from the skin without dehydrating it. Plus, cranberries contain vitamins that wash away dullness within the skin. It works on all skin types and is a wonderful $18.00.

2. Sephora Sun Safety Kit

Sephora Sun Safety Kit
Price: $25.00 at sephora.com
As we all may know, the sun has a large affect on skin, therefore it is extremely important to keep it protected. Sephora have put together a "Sun Safety Kit" It is made up of fourteen different products, from moisturizer to lip balm. Plus, all the of the money made from this product will be donated to the skin cancer foundation. AND, all of the products inside add to $95. Sephora are selling the "sun safety kit" for $25. How many more reasons do you need to buy this amazing product?!

Some health tips are obvious. Wearing suncream, for example, is regularly advertised, and most people will now do it. There are a lot of less well know health tips, though, and some of them can have life changing results! I've been finding out exactly which health tips we should all know about…

1. Your Body Needs Sleep More Then Food

Your body can function for an entire week without food. A few days without sleep, and it will fall apart. You cannot stop yourself from falling asleep…do you remember reading about people falling asleep at the wheel or at work, and thinking you could never do that? It's much too easy to not get enough sleep these days. Make it a priority, as lack of sleep damages your immune system, which makes you more prone to illness.

2. Natural Doesn't Mean Harmless

Herbs and flowers are credited with so many different benefits that it's easy to self-medicate almost any problem by just choosing the relevant herb. It's important to remember that if someone is strong enough to cure, it's strong enough to hurt. Strong versions of St Johns Wort and other medication should only be taken after consulting your doctor!

3. Check Your Pulse

Whether you do it while getting ready in the morning, in traffic jams or after exercising, take a few minutes each day to check your pulse. Feel for anything abnormal, such as an irregularity. Often people feel this before they suffer from strokes, so if you can spot your pulse changing, you can get yourself checked out before anything too bad happens!

School is out, and summer vacation is here! Your kids couldn't be happier, but mom may be a little worried about her children forgetting everything they learned in school last year. Why not try a few of these games to help keep your kids sharp and thinking in an educational way. They will never know the true benefits of these games, but they will have a blast during those minutes before dinner and they are bored!

1. Object Trace

A simple game, but little ones love it! Take a variety of objects, and trace them on a sheet of paper. Objects to try include a fork, your keys, a cup, a small toy, a coin, a shoe, etc. Let your child match the object to the item you traced. Then, give your child a clean sheet of paper and let her trace the objects, and color them. For an older child, they might want to try drawing the objects by looking at your traced shape.

2. Make a chart

A child who routinely goes to head start of pre-school may find it confusing when school is out for the summer. To help them keep a routine going, help them make a morning, and night board. Glue pictures of children playing, reading, eating, bathing, brushing their teeth, and other activities. Help your child glue them onto the board in order of what they do during the day. Turn it over and do the same on the back to demonstrate a night routine. This will give your child something to do until school starts back.

3. Alphabet Chalk Fun

Use sidewalk chalk and write the alphabet and numbers in all over your driveway of sidewalk. Call out a letter or number. Your child has to race the letter before you can count to 10.

The cellphone is truly a product of our times. It's everywhere … seemingly inescapable. Sadly its ubiquitous presence means that it can be truly annoying. Here's how to be considerate in your use of your cellphone.

#1

The most important rule – SWITCH OFF WHEN APPROPRIATE. That means in cinemas, theatres, funerals, exams … Yes, I have heard of it happening in exams, and the culprit had their results discounted. So be considerate – and sensible.

#2

Always remember that your cellphone is not an extension of your house phone, and that your conversation can be overheard. People do not want to hear you talking loudly about intimate issues – or anything for that matter. I'm constantly amused – and astonished – at how people act as though they were in a bubble and seem to think that their voice doesn't carry beyond it.

#3

If you're with friends, only take calls if they're important. Wouldn't you complain if you were being served in a shop, and the assistant left you waiting while they answered a call? You're with your friends, so don't ignore them. Tell the caller you'll ring back later.

It's exam day, and you've spent the past week reviewing, studying, and probably stressing. No worries, you'll do fine! In fact, worrying on exam day will only make you lose your focus. Here are the things I try to remember for exam day, guaranteed to help me pass that big test. Who needs luck? you’ve got the skills and these tips!

1. Know the details

Make sure you know when and where the exam will be, so you don't have to worry about it at the last minute.

2. Know the score

How much of your final grade is riding on this one exam? Usually, even if you don't do well on one exam, you can still do well in the class, so don't worry too much about this one exam.

3. Be prepared

Will you need a Scantron sheet? A pencil? Erasers? A calculator? Will you be able to use a textbook or your notes? Make sure you have everything you will need to take the exam.

Whether you're trying to conceive, or you're not planning a pregnancy at all, it's good to know the first signs that you might be pregnant. Any sexual activity can lead to pregnancy, so there's always a risk if you're sexually active. Before you take that pregnancy test, here are the signs to look for…

1. You missed your period

Missing your period , or having a very light period can mean a lot of things — you're stressed, you haven't been eating well. But it can also mean you're pregnant.

2. Your breasts are tender

One of the first signs that you might be pregnant is for your breasts to be tender. Some women feel tender or sore before their periods, but others also have soreness when they're pregnant.

3. You feel nauseous

Oh my goodness, morning sickness is the worst! If you wake up feeling sick, and have to throw up, you might be pregnant. Of course, you might also just have a stomach bug! For me, though, my morning sickness was all-day sickness… I was sick all day long.

First, I love seeing what new moms name their children. I am personally a fan of unique names. So after reading this article, apart from sharing your experience of losing weight with us, you can also tell us what you named your child (first name) and the way you felt when he or she was first put in your arms. Now, I give warm congratulations on that bundle of joy you gave birth to. Children can be a lot of fun. However, the weight that you gain during the nine months of pregnancy is not as fun. Losing that weight is even worse. New mothers are facing many nightmares as their body swells up and they are not able to lose the weight. I too went through the same problem. When I first got pregnant, I had people telling me to say goodbye to the nice body. Well, sure, you can say goodbye to the fit skinny body for those 9 months, but after the baby is out, it is time to get skinny again. Sure, you may not be able to get down to that size you were before pregnancy, but you can get darn close to it. Continue as I give you 10 weight loss rules after having kids…

10. Do not rush and start dieting right after you have given birth.

This is especially true if you are breast feeding. I didn't breast feed, I bottle fed with formula, so I started exercising as soon as I was recovered. What you need to do is concentrate on eating healthy and come up with some good exercise plans.

9. Allow your body to go back to “normal” first.

When your body has recovered and your period has started to go back to normal, start following that weight loss plan you came up with.

8. You can get back to your normal weight in over half a year.

If you gained no more than 22 to 30 pounds, then you may be able to return back to normal weight after eight months. This may sound slow, but those eight months will go fast before you know it.

First dates are scary. From choosing what to wear and where to go, to the first awkward conversation and finding common ground, unless it's going fantastically well, it can be hard to relax at all until you've got home and analyzed it with your friends! But then comes the worrying about whether he will call, if he wants to see you again and if he really saw how great you are… I've been talking to my boyfriends friends about this, though, and have picked up on the eight simple ways to impress a man, and they are so much simpler then you'd think…

1. Ask Questions

Men know that women like to talk about themselves. It puts us in our comfort zone, talking about things we have a knowledge in… did you know it works the other way, too? Listening to him and asking relevant questions not only shows you are interested in him too, it shows you are intelligent and can hold a conversation. So whether you quiz him on his dream job or his favourite food, get asking!

2. Play It Cool

Awkward moments can be date killers, but it all depends on how you play them. A friend of mine once arranged to go on a first date at an ice rink that had been put in the town centre for one week only. Her balance was never very good, but she was determined to look good, so she bought some ice skating gear and certainly looked the part when he showed up until she fell over and broke her arm. Awkward? Never. She stood up laughing, and despite being in pain, admitted she'd never been much good at ice skating and hated the cold. She got married last year…

Some actors should just stick to reciting scripts, since when they open their mouths under any other circumstances, they make a fool of themselves. In fact, celebrities in general have a tendency to make comments that they are in no way qualified to make. Here are some celebs I want to gag.

1. Mel Gibson

The human definition of the phrase 'mid-life crisis'. Man meets woman. Man marries woman and has 7 kids. Thirty years later, man leaves woman for younger woman. Has baby by younger woman. Leaves her before baby is 6 months old. This from someone who claims to be a traditionalist Catholic.

2. Sting

Sting
Enough to make even the most die-hard environmentalist want to burn down the rain forest, so he doesn't have anything to pontificate about. Then there's the Tantric sex. And a man in his 50s is far too old for silly nicknames …

3. Bono

Bono
Check out the South Park episode 'More Crap' to see this rampant egotist cut down to size. Is there anything this ridiculously named, overpaid singer doesn't share his opinion on?

Could she be the next Julia Roberts? Will she remain an It Girl for a few years more? Will Rachel’s career become one of the many great ones that aspiring actresses dream of? I am not so sure about the first two questions but a big YES is the only answer to the third. Intent on making movies not just for the sake of making money, Rachel is versatile and can do both indie and big studio projects. There are many things I like about her and here I give you 8. Feel free to add more if you like Rachel, too.

1. She is great at what she does.

1
From chick flicks to comedies to thrillers, Rachel has shown us that she is an actress. I absolutely loved her on Mean Girls. What movie of Rachel do you love?

2. She is gorgeous.

2
Oh man, that smile! And eyes! And her cheekbones! I think she is one of those actresses who can truly command the camera; when you see her on screen, you will not be able to take your eyes off her.

3. She has worked really hard to reach her dreams.

3
Rachel took up figure skating when she was only 4. When she was 12, she caught the acting bug. She acted during her student years. She even has a BFA degree in Theater. She was a good student and graduated with honors.

4. She looks healthy.

4
This is the part where I admire Rachel’s healthy body. I don’t know what her exercise regimen is (she is a vegetarian) but I sure appreciate the fact that she does not look stick thin. I actually like her arms.
