Today's Obsessions

Summer at our house means endless days at the each building sandcastles, swimming in the pool, and splashing through the sprinkler. But without the perfect swimsuit for my little princess, none of that stuff is as much fun! This year, we did a lot of research before choosing her new suities, and here are the cutest swimsuits we found!

1. Janie and Jack Pleated Pineapple One-Piece Swimsuit

Price: $30.00 at janieandjack.com
Looking for a one-piece for your little island princess? This one is adorable! It's covered in a pretty tropical pineapple print, with cute little bows on the shoulders, with a unique pleated skirt attached. It provides UPF 50+ sun protection, and comes in sizes 7 or 8 online (more sizes in the store). So cute!

2. Janie and Jack Dot One-Piece Swimsuit

Price: $30.00 at janieandjack.com
This periwinkle blue one-piece has sort of a retro look about it, and would look so cute paired with big white sunglasses! It's hand washable, and features a sweet bow on one side and ruffles along the leg openings. Pair with the matching flip-flop sandals for a perfect day at the beach or by the pool.

3. The Children's Place Peace Sign Tankini

3
Price: $16.50 at amazon.com
Perfect for your little hippie peace-nik! This two-piece is modest and cute, with a white background and bright, multi-colored peace signs scattered across with pink trim. Sizes start at four and run through 14. Pair with bright flip-flops and a floppy sunhat … so cute!

On a trip to Paris some years ago, I decided to try a different cuisine every night of the week. It was easy, as there are so many restaurants, countries and styles of cooking that eating out in a city need never get boring. So here I offer my pick of world cuisine.

1. Japanese

Japanese
More interesting than Chinese food somehow. Maybe it's because Japanese restaurants are less ubiquitous than Chinese ones. Or perhaps it's the presentation – the dishes always look so pretty. Just don't try to pronounce the menu when you order – point at it instead, thus avoiding the possibility of embarrassing linguistic faux pas.

2. Thai

Thai
I love Thai food. Unfortunately, I can never remember the difference between red curry and green curry, and always end up ordering the hotter one. I should have learnt by now, but never do.

3. Indian

Indian
Fantastic for vegetarians. Indian food holds a special place in my heart (and stomach) thanks to a wonderful vegetarian restaurant in North London (now closed. The restaurant, not North London). I swear I cried when I realised it was no longer there. If you have their recipe for Idlis, name your price. Dining out has never been quite the same since. Sob.

1. Nail Polish

Yellow nail polish? What do you think of the color? You know, if Karen can rock it, I think I can, too.

2. Living Room Wall

A living room painted in yummy yellow! I have never seen a room so welcoming and airy and beautiful.

3. Dandelions

Romeika took photos of lovely dandelions. While you’re at her blog, you may want to browse through all the photos she has taken. She is talented, this girl.

4. Blow Drier Chandelier

That’s right, a chandelier made of yellow blow driers. Emily spotted this treasure at a blow dry bar. I wish we have blow dry bars in my city.

5. Striped Bikini Top

I am going to the beach this weekend and I wish I have this bikini top (3rd photo). So pretty! I gather this will make for a great outfit photo, with the turquoise waters and clear blue skies.

I have been doing a lot of thinking about the places I want to see in this lifetime and that is when I decided to write this blog. I think these are the  top 10 places you must see before you die. Let’s do a mini-virtual tour, shall we?

10. Loch Ness, Scotland

This is the biggest of the three lochs. It is hilly and wet and is drained by six rivers that flow into the loch. It has over two cubic miles of fresh water. Of course, it is the home of the famous Loch Ness monster. It really is worth traveling to see.

9. The Golden Pavilion, Japan

This is probably one of the most known temples in Japan. As you may have guessed, it is completely covered in gold. When light shines on it, it looks like a jewel box. On the roof, a phoenix sits. This is definitely something that you must see.

8. Bimini, Bahamas

American psychic, Edgar Cayce, made predictions that evidence of Atlantis would show up in the Bahamas during the year 1968 or 1969. In 1968, pilots took pictures of structures that looked like walls, buildings, and roads under water off of Bimini Island. Others have claimed that they have seen pyramids with stone circles on the ocean floor. A must-see, if you ask me.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but in all the time I've lived in Spain, I've seen very little of the country. So when I finally get round to traveling, there are several cities I'd like to visit. I'm a history buff, and Spain has some amazing historic cities. Here are 8 on my list.

1. Granada

Full to bursting with historic buildings, Granada contains the famous Alhambra palace. The city is in fact a National monument. Best avoided in summer, when it is VERY hot and you will be sharing with millions of tourists.

2. Avila

Avila is the birthplace of St Teresa, she of the rather racy visions. What really interests me, however, is that Avila has the best-preserved medieval city walls in Spain (Barcelona's were long since destroyed).

3. Leon

Lots of cathedrals, cloisters, and some amazing medieval animal frescoes put Leon on my list. There are also remnants of the Roman city walls (probably two stones, but I love history).
