Try a product like The Body Shop Brazil Nut Define & No-Frizz to tame frizzy hair.2. Bring it to lifeIf your hair is limp and lank, you may have used too much mousse or gel. Use a spray bottle with warm water, Bend at your waist, turn your head upside down, and spray a gentle mist on your roots. Shake your head a few times, then flip it back up and then style your hair. Much better!3. Get rid of staticThis is such a big problem in winter, especially if you wear a hat! To control static, I keep a box of fabric softener sheet in my desk. Just rub one lightly over your hair. Or try a tiny dab of leave-in conditioner. Both work great!4. De-grease, quick! No time to shampoo? Try a dry shampoo, like Tigi's Rockaholic Dirty Secret. Spray on at the roots to absorb excess oils and odors, then comb through and style as usual. Perfect when you only have a few minutes to do your normal hair-care routine. |
Posted: 05 May 2010 08:04 AM PDT blonde locks, but if you are tempted over to the dark side, here are my top seven tips for going brown… Brown hair seems to be huge at the moment and all of my friends are dyeing their hair different shades of brown! I'm far too pale to ditch my 1. Can you do it yourself?Photo Credit: AlicePalice Generally, you should be able to color your hair yourself. However, if it is in bad condition, or has different tones in it, a hairstylist might be a better option. Hair dye won't take well to hair in bad condition and will leave your color patchy, so you might save yourself some disappointment! 2. Which Kit?Photo Credit: wisely-chosen Kits sold in supermarkets and chemists contain different chemicals to kits from salons, which will generally give better results. That said, if you follow the instructions, you can get amazing and very professional looking results from a supermarket kit and they are of very good quality and value these days. 3. Prep Your HousePhoto Credit: Kathy Froilan Grab old towels to cover anything valuable and stay away from your bedroom, especially if your bed has white sheets! Cover the sofa if you are likely to sit on it, and hide any important paperwork. Some hair dyes have to be left on for 55 minutes, and you'll be surprised how far you'll move in that time! |

Posted: 05 May 2010 06:09 AM PDT eye liner and mascara at least. I have a huge make-up bag full of purple-hued eye liners and inky black mascaras and about two dozen shades of purple eye shadow, from the palest lavender to midnight violets. And almost all of them are MAC Eyeshadows. There's a very good reason why, too — because Mac Eyeshadow is the absolute best. I admit it: most days, the only make-up I wear is eye make-up. I won't leave the house, except to go to the gym, without Price: $14.50 at maccosmetics.com First of all, no matter which color you prefer or what you're looking for, MAC is bound to have at least three or four eyeshadows that are exactly what you want. There are, after all, 176 different shades to choose from, like the demure Filament (the palest of pinks) to a deep inky Carbon (nearly black). The color is intense, and it doesn't crease or flake or wear off, but it's not greasy, so a simple swipe with a warm washcloth will remove all traces of it. MAC Eyeshadows also blend beautifully, so if you're going for a smoky eye look, or even rainbow eyes, these are the shadows for you. There are also matte shades and glimmering shades for rocking the glam look or for keeping it subtle for the office. Right now, I have at least 30 of these tiny black pot of shadow in my make-up bag. It's something of an addiction, but I know I'm not alone — once you try them, you'll never want to use anything other than MAC Eyeshadows. Really. |
