It's Time for a New Knit-Along!

We've had such a great time knitting the Minimalist Cardigan by Ruthie Nussbaum. I continue to be amazed both at the wealth of knowledge you all possess and at your willingness to share it!

You are such a great bunch of knitters and friends; during this knit-along (KAL) we talked about all kinds of things around knitting. We shared what we did while knitting (most of us watch TV or listen to audiobooks); we discussed whether or not we were actually doing moss stitch or seed stitch or something in-between (and we decided it didn't matter); and we consoled a couple of our friends who were affected by the recent tornado in Mississippi (thankfully, everyone's okay).

If you're thinking about knitting this pattern, there are tons of great tips in the forum. Some folks made the sleeves narrower (and detailed it for all of us!), some made alterations to the stockinette section in the front (cables up the edges, ribbing at the bottom, slip stitches on the edges), and lots of people knit the back and fronts all in one piece.
But I continue not to be able to knit to my own schedule. Brother!! I vow to complete the next KAL on time, which means I'll have to put down the Minimalist in order to do so, but so be it.

Here are some of the gorgeous, finished cardis.

New KAL Offerings!

How about a lacy knit-along this time? Here are four options from our pattern store that are all summery lace—there's a tank, a tunic, a hoodie, and a shawl to choose from.

The Bonsai Tunic by Norah Gaughan is one of our most popular patterns. It's comprised of two different lace patterns, a flattering ribbed waist with a tie, and a plunging neckline. Bamboo yarn makes this drape beautifully.      Connie Chang Chinchio's Apres Surf Hoodie is a unique summer knit—it pairs fingering weight yarn and small needles with a silky alpaca yarn and an open, arrowhead lace pattern to make a breezy sweater perfect for summer evenings.

The Clementine Shawlette by Michele Rose Orne is the perfect summer wrap. The lace pattern is easy and strategically placed shaping forms cute ties in front.
It's all about the details in Theresa Schabes's Sleeveless Tuxedo Shirt. The lacy bib plus the swingy tank equals a cute summer top you'll wear a bunch.
Just decide which one you want to knit and then click here to vote on your favorite. I'll announce the winning design on May 14.

Wooster Tank

Like windblown sands across the dunes, ripples of raised stitches create a casually elegant summer top in Loop-d-loop's QUARTZ. The hand-braided trim forms straps that can either be tied halter-style around the neck or stitched to the back to create a tank. Learn more.

For knitters who want to try an allover lace garment, this tank is the ideal project. The body is worked in the round in a relatively simple pattern that repeats over nine stitches and four rows. The shoulder straps are worked as continuations of the armbands and neckband, and finished off with a delicate picot edge. Learn more.

Inspired by beachcomber fashions of the 1960's, this relaxed shirt in Loop-d-loop's RIVER is an asymmetrical take on the Cuban guayabera. An eyelet pattern is interrupted by a vertical mesh stripe. With loose and easy shaping, it goes from beach cover-up to dinner in town. Learn more.
