Girl of the Month: Rooney Mara

.
Rising star Rooney Mara is certainly one to watch, and not just because she has a serious slate of must-see movies out this year. Yes, the Youth In Revolt star is making a splash on screen in last month's much anticipated Nightmare on Elm Street and will garner followers later this year with the debut of Social Network, the David Fincher directed film based on the story of how Facebook was founded, but she also looks adorable and well-dressed at each event she attends. Maybe she's a fashion savant or perhaps she's simply is displaying a familial proclivity for darling ensembles (her older sister, Kate Mara, is another WWW favorite and former GOTM too), but there's something captivating about this actress' outfit choices. Whether it's a pop of shimmering green or a neutral number that steals the show, we are simply smitten with May's GOTM—Rooney Mara!

While we'll let Mara's acting speak for itself, we have very colorful commentary about her polished and post-event ensembles. For example, when spotted at the Pacific Design Center for the premiere of Dare, Mara rocked a red patterned dress and chunky neutral heels. We love the flared skirt of her printed frock, so make sure you check out Juicy Couture's Ikat Obe Silk Dress ($250) to help you get Mara's masterful style. The actress also opted for a more low-key yet pretty look to attend the Hamptons International Film Festival and Dior Beauty Party late last year. The LWD is also a key piece for spring, so make sure you check out Dallin Chase's Donald Dress ($295) to mimic Mara's smart selection.

Of course, every up-and-coming starlet needs a few red-hot red carpet options, and Mara is no exception. In fact, her glamorous looks are particularly chic, sweet, and age-appropriate in a fashion-forward way. For example, her Alberta Ferretti Nude Razmir and Chiffon Dress ($1985, 310.652.9300)—which she wore last week to attend the premiere of Nightmare on Elm Street at the legendary Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood—is stylish and on-trend (it's all about neutral pieces for spring) but we love how she updated the fancy frock with a girly headband and an elegant clutch. If you want to dress to impress a la Miss Mara, make sure you check out Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti's Silk Chiffon and Pleated Dress ($795), Jennifer Behr's Crystal and Silk Chiffon Skinny Silk Headband ($225), and Whiting & Davis' Bubble and Flat Mesh Clutch ($125), too. Finally, if it's a pop of color you want for your next festive evening out, make sure you pick a little flash of green to go with your favorite black dress, as our talented subject did at the Gen Art screening of her film, Tanner Hall in New York City, in early April. Be sure to slip on Forever 21's Faille-Silk Ruffle Top ($25) and grab a chic patterned clutch (like Mara's Louis Vuitton Mini Pochette Damier ($240) piece) and you'll be strutting in stellar style, like our adorable GOTM!—Kate Mulling
