As Blair Waldorf, Leighton Meester whips the
Gossip Girl audience into a fashion frenzy with Zac Posen frocks and
Dynasty-era shoulders on a weekly basis, but it is her off-screen élan that truly inspire us to worship Queen B. Her high-wattage, sexy siren looks are a must for our cocktail party inspiration board, while Meester's on-trend picks always have us lusting for a shopping trip in her armoire. Whether she's rocking a digital print Giambattista Valli mini-dress to promote her new flick
Date Night or wearing a lingerie-display ensemble with wide leg trousers, Meester's stellar soignée is wholly deserving of a blow-by-blow breakdown in today's
Style Spotlight story!
One of the most dynamic aspects of Meester's magnificent mix is the way she combines her unabashedly glamorous sense of style with seriously edgy footwear. She clearly loves a body-con mini and heavy-duty heel, a combo that is seasonally appropriate for spring, as warm weather means flirty frocks and lots of leg! For example, en route to a performance in Las Vegas (that's right, this triple threat can act, sing, and look impossibly chic all the while), Meester opted for Herve Leger by Max Azria's
Boat Neck Batik Dress ($1850) with Givenchy heels and Cathy Waterman jewels. We adore how the bandage dress is perfectly splattered and patterned, and, if you swoon for it too, make sure to try Wayne's
Pixel Dress ($575) or Zimmerman's
Mesh Shoulder Silk Dress ($675). Meester was spotted in another glorious graphic print specimen at the New York premiere of
Date Night, in which she stars with Tina Fey and Steve Carell. While her Giambattista Valli dress is certainly stunning, we also like Dolce Vita's
Electra Dress ($175) or American Retro
Bleach Dress ($218) for a similarly streaked style. The actress added a little extra edge vis-à-vis multi-strapped Phi boots (which are sadly no longer available, as the fashion house shuttered this winter), so be sure to consider Jeffrey Campbell's
Clinic Booties ($175), which bear a striking resemblance to Meester's originals!
Of course pale and printed pieces aren't the only wardrobe looks in Meester's wheelhouse: she also dresses to kill when she wears somber-hued sultry styles. Out on the town in December, the daring dresser looked seriously chic when she opted for Mark Fast's
Pintuck Halterneck Dress ($2417). Though the British designer of ultra-sexy second-skin frocks is an insider's favorite (former guest editors Erin Wasson and Simone Harouche both brought these delicious dresses to our attention), we are also quite fond of Elizabeth and James'
Stiletto Sheath Dress ($545) and Marc by Marc Jacobs'
Tank Dress ($220). It's also worth nothing that our spotlighted star styled her cutout frock with Christian Louboutin's
Hidden Platform Booties ($1375), giving her ensemble a lovely little leopard accent. The designer ankle boot is one of Meester's go-to accessories; she wore another fancy pair —specifically Balenciaga's Black Suede Booties from F/W 09—with a navy ruched dress while attending the Y-100 Jingle Ball in Florida last December. If you like the look, be sure to check out ASOS'
Premium Pleated Slinky Bandeau Dress ($77) and Elizabeth and James'
Lingerie Dress ($365). Meester smartly ramped up the sex-appeal of her apparel with smoky eyes and bold lips—so be sure to keep that in mind while mimicking Meester's marvelous maquillage.
Finally, because a trendsetter should always have at least one knockout off-duty look in her arsenal, we have a more casual ensemble, which affirms that Meester always plays to win. Her lingerie-display look—composed of a vintage lace top and wide-leg trousers—proves that she can nail the feminine-masculine combo. Be sure to check out ASOS'
Linen Mix Pyjama Pants ($60) and Urban Outfitters'
Sparkle and Fase Ruffle Sleeve Lace Blouse ($38) if you're as big of a fan of this look as we are!—Kate Mulling
